Caring for Your Home Blood Pressure Monitor

Measuring and logging guide ยท Last reviewed November 2, 2026

A monitor you can trust is part of a trustworthy log. A little care keeps it working well.

Everyday care

  • Store the monitor and cuff in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sun.
  • Do not fold the tube sharply or yank the cuff off your arm.
  • Wipe the cuff with a damp cloth. Do not soak it.

Batteries

Weak batteries can cause errors or odd results. Replace them when the low battery symbol shows, and keep spares.

Cuff wear

Cuffs wear out over time. If the cuff no longer holds its shape or the fabric is frayed, replace it with one that is made for your model.

Compare it with the clinic

Many clinicians suggest bringing your home monitor to an appointment so they can measure you with their equipment and compare it with your device. Ask whether your clinic will do this.

Follow the manual

Your device's manual gives the manufacturer's advice on cleaning, storage, and how long the device is designed to last.
